About

Camille Callison, Tahltan Nation member, is the University Librarian at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and a passionate cultural activist pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Manitoba. Her research critically examines the relationship between cultural memory institutions and the continued survival and activation of Indigenous knowledges, languages, and cultures.


She was the founding Chair and current Co-Lead of National Indigenous Knowledge and Language Alliance (NIKLA) as well as co-Lead of the Respectful Terminology Platform Project (RTPP).


Professional contributions include International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA ) Indigenous Matters Section, North American Regional Division, & the Advisory Committee on Cultural Heritage as well as the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) Board of Directors, BC ELN Steering Committee and Arca Advisory Committee, The Council of Post Secondary Library Directors of BC (CPSLD) Secretary/President-Elect, IEEE P2890™ Recommended Practice for Provenance of Indigenous Peoples’ Data member, NISO Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion subcommittee.

Her past service include the Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA-FCAB) as a founding board member, Vice-Chair, Indigenous Representative, Chair, Truth & Reconciliation Committee; Chair, Indigenous Matters Committee and a member of the Copyright Committee; Vice-Chair, Canadian Council to UNESCO Memory of the World founding Canadian's Memory of the World programme; President, Manitoba Library Association; and member of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Taskforce on Archives.


She is committed to being part of creating meaningful change related to equity, diversity, and inclusivity in the library, archival and cultural memory professions.
