NIKLA is a member Association for FNMI Practitioners and Allies.

Membership is available in four forms:

Individual Annual or Lifetime Membership and two organizational options of a Local Organization member and Institutional Membership.

Fees and privileges are specific to each membership.

In the case of partial years, dues are not prorated.

Please note that this Membership Application Process must be completed for each Membership you would like to apply for.

Individual Membership

Any Indigenous or Ally practitioner working in a knowledge field (such as archivist, records management, cultural/heritage worker, language preservationist, language instruction, librarianship, local historian, museum curation, etc.) are welcome to join as an individual member.

 

All members are encouraged to be active in their Primary and other Communities, and to vote in Community and Member business. Only those who identify as Indigenous may sit as a member of the Board.

 

Membership dues are paid annually by July 1st.

Lifetime Individual Membership

If you qualify for an Individual Membership, maybe you would prefer to purchase a Lifetime Individual Membership instead. This means no need to renew annually. 

Membership dues are paid once.

Local & Institutional Membership

Local Organization and Institutional Membership are for those entities who wish to join NIKLA as an organization. Two sizes have been established for those who are local/regional and for those who are larger such as institutions, associations, or governance groups representing people provincial/territorial or national. In both options, these groups should have an involvement in Indigenous archives, culture/heritage/Indigenous Studies, language preservation and/or instruction, libraries, museums, or other knowledge fields.

 

All members are encouraged to be active in a Primary and other Community, and to vote in Community and Member business. 

Local Organization Membership

Organizational membership is for the individual entity by business name. Each Organization has a single vote and may run for the At Large Organization member of Council. Employees or volunteers of the organization may also chose to have individual memberships.   

 

Membership dues are paid annually by July 1st.

Institutional membership is for the individual entity by business name for large bodies. Each Institution has a single vote and may run for the At Large Institutional member of Council. Employees or volunteers of the institution may also chose to have individual memberships.
